Silver Has Averaged a 17.9% Gain During Midterm Election Years Since 2000

The next US midterm election is November 3, and silver’s historical performance around election years is worth watching.

Since 2000:

• Silver finished higher in 9 of 13 US election years
• The average election-year gain was 13.7%
• Silver rose in 4 of 6 midterm election years
• The average midterm-year gain was 17.9%

Years involving Donald Trump as a candidate or sitting president produced an average silver gain of approximately 19%.

Elections alone do not determine the price of silver. Interest rates, inflation expectations, fiscal spending, the US dollar and industrial demand all matter more.

Still, the pattern is difficult to ignore. Silver has historically performed well during periods when political uncertainty and questions about future economic policy are elevated.

With the midterms approaching, does silver repeat the pattern in 2026?
